Kinderman Music Studio

New Students

New students will receive one "getting to know you" lesson before joining the studio. This first lesson is billed at the normal lesson rate.

Student Portal - Lesson registration

Families are expected to self register for their lessons via the student portal once slots are available for registration, usually on the 3rd Sunday of each month. All parents and students will receive a studio portal login upon registration that gives access to the studio calendar, policies, invoices, etc. All registration and cancelations must be done via the student portal. Students are expected to maintain their lesson times (registering and canceling only when necessary) on the studio calendar and will be charged for all scheduled lessons.

Students who would like to have a recurring weekly lesson time may request that and will be accommodated if the teacher's schedule allows. Once that lesson time has been agreed upon it will be automatically booked for the remainder of the academic year. The student or parent are expected to give notice via email of any conflicts before the upcoming month's schedule is finalized. Since invoices are sent out on the 1st of the month notice must be given before that time to ensure both the schedule and invoice are accurate.

Commitment

Private lessons can be a wonderfully fun and rewarding way to develop as a musician but they require both dedication and commitment on both the teacher and students part.

As your private music teachers we are committed to giving you our full attention each week and will personalize each lesson based on your individual and vocal needs. We will make ourselves available almost every week of the academic year to ensure that your progress is steady and that you have the tools needed to accomplish your goals.

We ask all our students to dedicate mindful practice time each week - including techniques we have worked on in the lesson as well as assigned repertoire - and to make the commitment to attend lessons regularly. Please bring your music as well as an open mind to each lesson.

Attendance

Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons, whether remote or in person. "No-shows" and lessons canceled fewer than 24 hours in advance will be billed at the regular rate, barring any extenuating circumstances. Cancelations must be made via the student portal, via email or text message to the teacher. Teacher cancelations will always be made up at a mutually convenient time or the student will receive a credit on the next month's invoice.

Students who abuse the self registration policy (by perpetually reserving slots and then canceling) or do not attend their recurring lesson time on a regular basis may lose their spot in the studio and/or charged for the teacher's time.

Location

All lessons will be taught remotely via your preferred platform (Skype, FaceTime, Zoom, etc) or the Kinderman Music Studio in Lambertville, NJ, unless otherwise noted.

Payment and Invoices

Lessons are billed monthly via email on the 1st of each month. A late fee of $5 will be charged on the 15th of each month if the invoice has not yet been paid in full. Payment may be made by check/cash on or before the first lesson of the month. Online payments may be made via PayPal (+2.9% convenience fee), Zelle or via Venmo @ColleenMKinderman. Please see your invoice for more detail.

By signing up for lessons all parents and students acknowledge that they have read and understand the policies and agree to abide by them.
